Vishal Metri is originally from Bengaluru, India,
where he graduated with a masters from the Indian Institute of Science in
Computational Science.
He worked on modeling the kinetics of a particular type of
ligand gated potassium ion channel found in neurons,
called hTREK 1.
Prior to that he has worked in the software industry for a while, with a bachelors in Electrical Engineering
from MSRIT Bengaluru.
His main area of interest is mathematical modeling.
Current research
Vishal is currently part of the SUPOLEN Marie Curie Initial Training programme,
which is a EU wide project involved in supramolecular polymer chemistry research.
He is working on Brownian dynamics simulations of disulphide
cross-linked star polymer gel.
This gel has been shown to display self-healing characteristics,
so the aim of the project will be to investigate
the effect of the lifetime of the transient bonds upon
the rheological properties of the network.
